There are so many times I fight to actually preserve the sandbox and the story I want to see but the AI will sit there refusing to do "coordinated attack". I would also turn my army over to an AI commander so that we can fight together. This concept seems to be something CA refuses to acknowledge. Paradox did it right, how many times did the armies of the low countries turn over their forces to an english commander? Same idea. Without the option to embed your units under another players command the idea of co-op battles is going to be poorly implemented. Move close, next guy attacks on his turn, army runs away and you won't get a co-op battle.
Sometimes it's, okay you move close then hopefully they won't attack you so I can start the attack so I get the city and you reinforce me. They have a very wonky way to work cooperation between armies. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.844 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
